These are more pictures of the Karlskrona archipelago, taken from inside the Naval Museum.  
I was there for the conference on Mathematics and War.

We were being served non-alcoholic drinks at a reception given by the Mayor.

 

She made a speech saying she hoped our subject-matter was one that belonged to the past.

I was quite surprised by the number of people who shied away from the objective reality of the world: obviously many applications of mathematics are to warlike purposes.

 
Bernhelm Booss-Bavnbek, who is editing the conference papers, was particularly clear on this point of fact.

Seeing the importance of this connection is not the same thing at all as thinking it desirable.
