O thou vast Rondure, swimming in space...
(Walt Whitman)

Now the planet swims in cyberspace

and me with it, and you with me...

This graphic by demon is based on my
self-picture of 'thinking',
used as an icon for my Philosophy pages.

This my second home page

If you have seen Edgar Reitz's wonderful HEIMAT films you will know the meaning of Die zweite Heimat.

See my own roots: genes and memes

Second home, home of free life. Now I live in the broadband world, with all sorts of new interactions arising from it.

at home on the Internet

HEIMAT 3 on BBC:
some of the old magic, but what a disappointing ending.
I started this web-life at the end of 1995 to tell you about:
  • my books about Alan Turing, codebreaking and the computer.
  • my work with Roger Penrose on space and time, particles and forces.
but, as in Heimat, as on the WWW, everything is linked to everything else...

from science and maths to sex and music, so...

my synth.co.uk domain is a growing realm of SYNTHESIS.

This is my uneconomic work

I am sometimes nostalgic for those early days when the Web was a small club of geeky enthusiasts. I never thought I could make money out of it. It just seemed to me a completely new opportunity to reach the world directly and FREELY.

I still write in simple HTML with lots of outward links to other people's work.

At least I'm not in the dot-com deadpool!
Instead, I sold myself in the online-shopping war of 2004. (See the bottom of these pages).

Wherefore unsatisfied soul?
Whither O mocking life?
Who justify these restless explorations?

(Walt Whitman again)

Start the millennium with me in Gran Canaria

and see more of gay life.
See the images and photographs in my mind's eye.

The waves are cool... dive in... see music I write.
